Have You Got UPOR Card For Your Property

Have you got UPOR card for your property yet? Digitized and Georeferenced Urban Property Ownership Cards (UPOR) will now be available to property owners in Bengaluru. All the information related to the property is contained in these cards.
UPOR distribution has already been completed in four wards of Bengaluru and is in
progress in three wards. At present 30 teams have been formed by the Land Records Department and cards of one lakh assets are being distributed every month.
Munish Maudgil, Commissioner of Survey and Land Records department of the revenue department said, “We are confident of completing the process of distribution of cards to all 25 lakh assets in Bengaluru in one and a half years”.
The purpose of UPOR is to create formal records of who owns what in an urban area. It was implemented to address the issue of expired land records. The implementation of this project has been delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The project was piloted in Jayanagar and Ramanagara in 2018 using drone survey. Later approval was given for a two-phase massive study in Tumkur, Hassan, Uttara Kannada, Belgaum, Ramanagara and Bengaluru. An inclusive plan was devised in the initial phase of the survey of 50 thousand square km of these above areas.
How does UPOR work?
Property owners can apply for the card. The revenue department physically marks their property boundary. Images of the property are captured by drones and physically demarcated. Then the owner of the property will be informed through e-mail and asked to upload all the documents related to the property on UPOR website. BBMP documents and official documents uploaded by the owner are compiled together to prepare a draft.
What is the use?
Changes made after the sale are updated immediately, so the property owner does not need to contact anyone to transfer the Katha account. Property division can be done easily using digitized map. Loans and other benefits can be availed easily.
These cards will be used to get bank loans, in property related disputes in court, to prove ownership in local administrations, sub registrar’s office, to file a case in court for property sharing, in case of building construction or conversion, while giving bail for someone else in court-police station.
