Declaration of general holiday on May 10 Due to karnataka assembly elections!for whom?

Bangalore, May 04; There are 7 days left for Karnataka assembly election 2023 voting. Voting is open from 7 am to 6 pm on Wednesday, May 10. In the wake of the polls, the Karnataka government has announced a general holiday. The Government of Karnataka has published two notifications in this regard.

On Tuesday, May 2, under the orders of the Governor of Karnataka and in his name, Under Secretary-1 to the Government, CSI Department (State Etiquette) Apekna Satish Pawar has issued a notification in this regard. But this universal leave is not applicable to many.

Karnataka Election; Leave with pay for postal voting
In the notification Karnataka assembly election will be held on Wednesday 10/05/2023 and to facilitate the voters to cast their votes, the government has declared a general holiday for all central and state government offices, schools, colleges, various associations and private institutions (including aided educational institutions) in the respective constituencies on the day of election in the respective constituencies. Govt said it has announced.

But this leave does not apply to emergency services. The notification clarified that all the government employees deputed for these election functions shall attend the election function. Leave with pay has already been announced for the officers/ staff and service voters deputed for election work for postal voting from May 2 to 4.

GENERAL HOLIDAY NOTIFICATION 2 In the 2nd notification issued by Apekna Satish Pawar regarding general leave, the Home Rule Affairs Department (3029-1), Government of India, as proposed in the notification dated 15/06/1957, has given the explanation in Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act-1881 (Act No. 26 of 1881).

On the occasion of the Karnataka assembly election on Wednesday 10/05/2023, the government has declared a public holiday limited to all local bodies in the state, offices of nationalized banks and other banks under the metropolitan corporation.

Also, it has been clarified that employees working on permanent and casual work in any business organization, industrial undertaking or other public establishment are entitled to leave with pay on the polling date.

The voting process for the Karnataka assembly elections has already started. Voters above 80 years of age and differently-abled voters who had applied under 12D voted at home on April 29, 30 and May 1. The officers/staff assigned for election work will vote by mail from May 2 to 4.
