More than 16 candidates are contesting in 16 constituencies: Two or two voting machines are used in those constituencies

As more than 16 candidates will be contesting in 16 constituencies of the state in this assembly election, two or two EVMs are being used in those constituencies.
Bengaluru: The Election Commission has said that 2 voting machines will be used in 16 constituencies in the elections to be held on May 10.

Monday was the last day to withdraw nomination papers. Accordingly, on Monday, 517 candidates withdrew their nomination papers and withdrew from the fray. There are a total of 2,613 candidates in the field.

More than 16 candidates will contest in total 16 constituencies. Thus two or two voting machines will be used in 16 constituencies. An EVM has a maximum of 16 candidates’ names and symbols. As it goes beyond that, one for every 16 candidates, additional voting machines should be connected. This time more than 16 candidates will contest in 16 constituencies. Thus two or two voting machines are used in those 16 constituencies. Bellary city has the highest number of candidates. A total of 24 candidates are in the contest.

The next position comes to Hoskote. There are 23 candidates in the fray this time. Later, 21 candidates remained in the fray in Chitradurga and 20 candidates in Yalahanka, Bangalore.

Hoskote- 23 candidates
Yelahanka- 20 candidates
Batarayanpur- 17 candidates
Bellary City- 24 candidates
Hundred- 18 candidates
Gouribidanur- 18 candidates
Chikmagalur- 16 candidates
Chitradurga- 21 candidates
Hubli-Dharwad Center- 16 candidates
Kolar- 18 candidates
Gangavati- 19 candidates
Srirangapatna- 17 candidates
Krishnaraja- 17 candidates
Narasimharaja- 17 candidates
Raichur- 18 candidates

Acceptance of nomination papers of 2,613 candidates: A total of 5,101 nomination papers were received across the state till April 20. Of these, 2,613 candidates are currently in the fray. 224 candidates from BJP, 223 candidates from Congress, 207 candidates from JDS.
